Getting Started

How do I sign up for Liftd?

Visit liftd.ai/signup and create your account. You'll need to provide your gym's basic information. The entire signup process takes less than 5 minutes, and you can start adding machines immediately.

Is there a free trial?

Yes! We offer a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to start. You can add machines, print QR codes, and have members start tracking workouts right away.

How long does it take to set up Liftd in my gym?

Most gyms are fully set up within 30-60 minutes. This includes creating your account, adding all your machines to the dashboard, and printing/placing QR codes. The setup is designed to be done by anyone—no technical skills required.

Do I need any special equipment or hardware?

No special hardware is needed. You just need a computer to access the dashboard and a printer to print QR codes. Members use their own smartphones to scan codes. That's it.

Can I import my existing member list?

Currently, members sign up individually through the app. However, you can invite members via email from your dashboard. We're working on bulk import features for future releases.

What if I have multiple gym locations?

Our Pro plan and above support multiple locations. Each location has its own dashboard, but you can view aggregate data across all locations from a central admin panel.

Is Liftd available in my country?

Yes! Liftd is available worldwide. The app supports multiple languages and all major currencies for billing. QR codes work universally.

Pricing & Billing

How much does Liftd cost?

Pricing is based on the number of machines in your gym: Starter ($49/mo) for up to 20 machines, Growth ($99/mo) for up to 50 machines, Pro ($179/mo) for up to 100 machines, and Premium ($299/mo) for up to 200 machines. Enterprise pricing is available for larger facilities.

Are there any hidden fees?

No hidden fees. The price you see includes everything: the gym dashboard, unlimited member accounts, all analytics, QR code generation, and customer support. No per-member charges, no setup fees.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. When upgrading, you'll be charged the prorated difference. When downgrading, the new rate applies at your next billing cycle.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and can arrange invoice billing for Enterprise customers.

Is there an annual discount?

Yes! Pay annually and save 20% compared to monthly billing. That's like getting 2+ months free.

What happens if I exceed my machine limit?

We'll notify you when you're approaching your limit. You can either upgrade to a higher plan or remove some machines. We won't automatically charge you for overages.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. We don't do refunds for partial months, but we also don't lock you into long-term contracts.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits or community gyms?

Yes! Contact our sales team for special pricing for non-profit organizations, community centers, and educational institutions.

QR Codes & Setup

How do I add machines to my gym?

From your dashboard, go to 'Machines' and click 'Add Machine.' Enter the machine name, select the muscle group, and optionally add a photo. A unique short code is auto-generated. That's it!

How do I generate QR codes?

Go to 'QR Codes' in your dashboard, select the machines you want, and click 'Download' or 'Print.' You can download individual PNGs or print multiple codes at once as a PDF.

What size should the QR codes be?

We recommend printing QR codes at least 2x2 inches (5x5 cm) for easy scanning. The codes we generate are high-resolution and work well even when printed larger.

Where should I place the QR codes?

Place QR codes where members can easily scan them while using the machine—typically on the machine frame at eye level or near the weight stack. Avoid placing them where they might get scratched or dirty.

What if a QR code gets damaged?

Simply print a new one from your dashboard. The code is linked to the machine, not the physical sticker, so replacing it takes seconds.

Can I customize the QR codes with my gym's branding?

Growth plan and above includes custom branding options. You can add your gym's logo to the QR code labels and customize colors to match your brand.

Do the QR codes work without internet?

The QR codes themselves are just links. When scanned, the member's phone needs internet to load the app. However, the Liftd app has offline mode—members can log workouts offline and sync when back online.

Can I use NFC tags instead of QR codes?

Yes! Our app supports NFC scanning for gyms that prefer NFC tags. You can use QR codes, NFC tags, or a mix of both.

Member Management

How do members join my gym on Liftd?

Members download the free Liftd app, create an account, and scan any QR code in your gym. They're automatically associated with your gym. You can also send email invites from your dashboard.

Is the member app free?

Yes, the Liftd app is completely free for members. They get full workout tracking, AI recommendations, progress charts, and more at no cost. This is included in your gym subscription.

Can I see my members' workout data?

Yes, you can view aggregate workout data and individual member activity. You can see who's active, who's at risk of churning, and what equipment is most popular. Individual data is anonymized unless the member opts in to sharing.

Can members use the app at multiple gyms?

Yes! If a member visits another gym that uses Liftd, they can scan and log workouts there too. Their workout history stays unified across all locations.

What if a member cancels their gym membership?

You can remove members from your gym in the dashboard. They'll lose access to your gym's machines but keep their personal workout history in the app.

Can I communicate with members through Liftd?

Currently, we don't have built-in messaging. However, you can export member email addresses (for those who opt in) to use with your own email marketing tools.

How do I identify at-risk members?

Our analytics dashboard shows member engagement scores. Members who haven't visited in a while or whose workout frequency is declining are flagged so you can reach out proactively.

Can members hide their data from me?

Members control their privacy settings. By default, you see anonymized aggregate data. Members can opt in to share their personal workout details with your gym.

Analytics & Insights

What analytics does Liftd provide?

You get equipment utilization data (which machines are used most), peak hours heat maps, member engagement metrics, workout trends over time, and retention risk scores. This is data no other gym software provides.

How is equipment utilization calculated?

Every time a member scans a QR code and logs a workout, we record that usage. You see total uses, unique users, average session duration, and usage patterns by time of day.

Can I export my data?

Yes, you can export all analytics data as CSV files for use in spreadsheets or other tools. Member data export requires member consent.

How accurate is the churn prediction?

Our churn prediction model analyzes workout frequency patterns and flags members whose engagement is declining. While not perfect, it gives you a head start to intervene before members cancel.

Can I see which machines need maintenance?

Yes! If a machine's usage suddenly drops or stops, we flag it as a potential maintenance issue. A machine that was busy yesterday but hasn't been used in 3 days might be broken.

How do I compare performance across locations?

Multi-location plans include a unified dashboard where you can compare equipment utilization, member engagement, and other metrics across all your gyms.

Is the data real-time?

Yes, data is updated in real-time. When a member logs a workout, it appears in your dashboard within seconds.

Can I set up custom reports?

Pro plan and above includes custom report scheduling. Set up weekly or monthly reports delivered to your email with the metrics you care about most.

Equipment & Machines

What types of equipment can I add?

Any gym equipment: weight machines, free weight stations, cable machines, cardio equipment, benches, racks, functional training areas—anything members use can have a QR code.

How do I organize machines by muscle group?

When adding a machine, select its primary muscle group (Chest, Back, Legs, Arms, Shoulders, Core, Cardio, Full Body). This helps with analytics and member recommendations.

Can I add photos of my machines?

Yes! Adding photos helps members identify the correct machine and makes your dashboard more visual. Photos appear in the member app when they scan.

What if I have multiple identical machines?

Add each machine separately with a unique identifier (e.g., 'Leg Press #1', 'Leg Press #2'). Each gets its own QR code and usage tracking.

Can I track free weights?

Yes, you can create stations for free weight areas (e.g., 'Dumbbell Area', 'Squat Rack 1'). Members scan and log their exercises at that station.

How do I handle equipment from different manufacturers?

You can add manufacturer and model information when creating machines. We have a database of common gym equipment brands to help with setup.

What if I remove or replace a machine?

You can archive old machines (preserving historical data) and add new ones. Simply print a new QR code for the replacement.

Can I set different weight units per machine?

Yes! Each machine can be configured as kilograms (kg) or pounds (lbs). Members see the machine's unit with an automatic conversion displayed.

Security & Privacy

Is member data secure?

Yes, we use bank-level encryption (AES-256) for all data at rest and in transit. Our infrastructure is hosted on secure cloud providers with SOC 2 compliance.

Are you GDPR compliant?

Yes, Liftd is fully GDPR compliant. Members can request their data, delete their accounts, and control what information is shared with gyms.

Who owns the data?

You own your gym's data. Members own their personal workout data. We're custodians, not owners. If you cancel, you can export all your data.

Can my staff access the dashboard?

Yes, you can add team members with different permission levels. Admins have full access; managers can view analytics but not billing; staff can manage machines but not member data.

Is there two-factor authentication?

Yes, we support two-factor authentication (2FA) for all accounts. We recommend enabling it for admin accounts.

Where is my data stored?

Data is stored in secure data centers in the US and EU. EU customers can request EU-only data residency for GDPR compliance.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

You have 30 days after cancellation to export your data. After that, we permanently delete it from our servers in accordance with data protection regulations.

Do you sell my data?

Absolutely not. We never sell gym or member data to third parties. Your data is used only to provide Liftd services.

Technical & Support

What browsers does the dashboard support?

The dashboard works on all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version for the best experience.

Is there a mobile app for gym owners?

The dashboard is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. A dedicated admin app is on our roadmap for future release.

What if the app goes down?

We maintain 99.9% uptime. If there's an outage, our team is notified immediately and works to resolve it. We also post status updates at status.liftd.ai.

Do you have an API?

Yes, our Pro plan and above includes API access for integrating Liftd data with your own systems or third-party tools.

Can I integrate with my existing gym management software?

We offer integrations with popular gym management platforms. Contact us to discuss your specific integration needs.

How do I get support?

Email support@liftd.ai or use the chat widget in your dashboard. Starter plans get email support; Growth and above get priority support with faster response times.

Do you offer onboarding help?

Yes! All plans include self-serve onboarding guides. Growth plan and above includes a 1-on-1 onboarding call to help you get set up.

What if I need help after hours?

Our help center at help.liftd.ai is available 24/7. For urgent issues, Pro and Premium plans include priority support with extended hours.

Features & Comparisons

How is Liftd different from Mindbody or Glofox?

Traditional gym software focuses on scheduling and billing—they tell you who walked in but not what they did inside. Liftd provides equipment-level intelligence: which machines are used, member workout patterns, and churn prediction. That's data competitors can't offer.

Do you replace my existing gym management software?

Liftd complements your existing software. We focus on what happens inside your gym (equipment usage, member workouts) while your existing tools handle check-ins and billing. Many gyms use both.

What about class scheduling?

Liftd is focused on equipment-based workout tracking. For class scheduling, we recommend using your existing tools or integrating with dedicated scheduling software.

Does Liftd handle membership billing?

Not currently. We're focused on doing equipment analytics exceptionally well. For billing, continue using your existing payment processor or gym management software.

Can members create their own exercises?

Members log workouts on machines you've added. For exercises not tied to specific equipment (like stretching), they can use the app's manual entry feature.

Is there a workout program feature?

The AI recommendations guide members on what to do next based on their history. Full workout program building is on our roadmap.

Do you support cardio equipment tracking?

Yes! Add your treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and rowing machines. Members can log duration, distance, and other cardio metrics.

What languages does Liftd support?

The app is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Hindi, and Hebrew. More languages coming soon.
